“Hot” or “Cold” Yoga

I had interesting phone inquiry today. The caller asked if I taught hot or cold yoga?

Initially I thought she might have been looking for a cafe and wanted to know about hot or cold food. I replied, our classes are offered at a comfortable temperature in a well ventilated room. Ideal for movement.

Her closing words, I hate cold yoga and hung up.

I’ve previously been asked if I’m the yoga teacher who doesn’t look like a yoga teacher, I’ve been informed my studio isn’t considered “chic”.

Now the temperature of the room is becoming an issue. I’m sure there’s a place for authentic body movement with breath awareness and mind focus, lets face it “real” yoga as been around for thousands of years. I might throw in the occasional very funny and appropriate joke but offer authentic yoga.
